Meditation provides an opportunity for the individual to distance himself or herself from the causes of stress that occurs in our everyday lives. Most people do not take the time out on a regular basis to sit in silence. When a few minutes are taken to remove the mind from the energy absorbing distractions that can start to make use feel overwhelmed one gradually acquires a better sense of well being. When one has a sense of controlling one’s own life rather than the world being at the controls there will be fewer anxiety attacks.
Far too many people are relying on medicating themselves in an attempt to control an overactive reaction to the ongoing fast paced stimulus around us. The high speed of living is not natural to the human organism anymore than any other animal life would find it relaxing. Nature all around us lives at a slower tempo and is in the perfect balance that it is meant to be in. Man needs to slow down and find peaceful meditation is helpful.
